A Lane County hearings officer denied county's application to construct $150 million solid waste sorting and educational facility in zone that prohibits solid waste uses
This story demonstrates that Oregon's SB100, zoning laws and LUBA are not add-ons to the Ten Commandments but merely manmade rules which can be changed by a vote of the legislature and a signature of the governor.
I wonder what sort of kickbacks the representatives are getting from the investors for pushing this project? Also what is the incentive for the Sierra club who would normally opposed something like this?
The County zoned this land this way for a good reason. Another example of the State running roughshod on everything. At least they aren’t playing favorites, unless you count the investors pushing this project.
But the waste is decomposed into natural gas, which is bad because it can be used in a gas stove, which is double-bad because CO2 emissions which contribute to the greening of the green lane, which is good, except that the waste isn’t solid, except when it is, but only when it’s priced at $12,000 per day, which doesn’t include the processing of the waste, solid or otherwise. This plan is definitely ready for legislative approval and the governor’s mark.
I recall a statement from the inventor of the internet, Al Gore, saying "everything that's supposed to be down is up, and everything that is supposed to be up is down".
And the left, longtime environmentalists, no longer show concern over chem trails and solid waste. The left has no principles, plain and simple.
First Oregon's zoning system is idiot. Second it is infinitely ignorable if you got the right "friends" and third the environmental lobby is a pack of self righteous, virtue signaling hypocrites
Not being a fan of Oregon's "land planning" process in the first place (the rich special interests hijacked that process many years ago) it doesn't surprise me that, once more, money and power have triumphed. The venal legislature is still with us.

The horror!
Oregon Supermajority tenet: "Laws for thee, but not for me"

Something is fishy….the Sierra Club is supporting this? Hmmm……..

One word; “Absurd”
🤯

3 for 3, you pegged it.
