Ridiculous. I’m assuming my Senator Jeff Golden voted for it as well. He had said he was not going to vote for it. The Democratic machine in the state is corrupt.

I’m curious to know if the secretary of the senate posted a meeting notice outside the senate chamber according to 11.10 (2). Could be another procedural misstep. https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/secretary-of-senate/Documents/2025%20Senate%20Rules%20as%20adopted.pdf

Good point. It appears, at least on the House side, they did post. Trying to track down whether they announced conf cmte on House/Senate floor as required if bodies are in session.

With up to 26 weeks of benefit without cost for striking, every expiring union contract becomes a de facto paid vacation from work for union employees. This era is truly one of the greatest of times ever in the history of feminism to be a working member of the Oregon Democrat Party! Party on, baby girl!

For teachers, it’s absolutely golden. They will get paid for all those weeks that they are striking, and then get paid for working through the summer so that the district can reach the minimum required number of days.

must I publish this again?

At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in the year 1787, Alexander Tytler (a Scottish history professor at The University of Edinborough) had this to say about “The Fall of The Athenian Republic” some 2,000 years prior:

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”

“The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From Bondage to spiritual faith;

From spiritual faith to great courage;

From courage to liberty;

From liberty to abundance;

From abundance to complacency;

From complacency to apathy;

From apathy to dependence;

From dependence back into bondage.”

Oregon is beyond help, too many are dining at the public trough. AND getting away with it. it is going to take more than this venue to recover.

The left has no problem spending other peoples money for self gain. I wonder if the protracted negotiation and threatened strike by Clackamas County employees had anything to do with his decision.

I may join Dutch Bros and head for a more friendly tax state.
