Documents first reported here confirm the need for an investigation into whether DPO committed a crime when it misreported the source of a $500,000 donation it used to help elect Kotek governor
Great reporting. My bias is that the Democrats have had around 30 years to load the judiciary with compliant political hacks that will defer to the DPO and it's leaders whims. The level of out front corruption engaged in by the current, and former, elected state officials suggests that they have absolutely no fear of repercussions from what is euphemistically referred to as the Oregon Department of Justice and the Oregon justice system in general
Are you sure you aren’t doing the job that a great investigative reporter used to do? Certainly no reporter I’ve ever run across in Oregon anyway! Keep up the digging! BTW, what’s the latest on the “walkout” by our Republican Senators? When our Republican office holders are reduced to these tactics to even be heard in the Legislature, our State is in a horrible situation, not to mention the Democrat autocracy that’s driving it.
A real “recusal” of an elected official like the AG is a recusal of all those who report to that official.
I was part of an office that in 1986 was forcibly recused by a corrupt (now dead) judge, but it was very clear that recusal of my boss (the DA) meant recusal of all of us.
Since then, I have been on both ends of recusals - meaning, my entire office has been self eliminated for possible ethics conflicts, and I have taken over when other prosecutors chose caution, and took out both the highest official, and all of their deputies out of the mix.
