Nothing worse than listening to two politicians talk over each other. Moderators need to be more assertive, equally. But that won't make for good television I guess.

Either way, why do we need rules or laws to protect our children? A clear indicator of the demise of a civilized society. Thanks for continuing to inform us Mr. Eager, no matter how painful.

Jeff, thanks for sticking with this story. Bynum is thin-tempered, race-card at the ready (ironic, considering she runs McDonald's franchises), and not above trying to leverage her position when she had a beef against a security guard doing his job at the Clackamas shopping center. Scary.

Forget "mandatory reporter" anyone with an once of decency and integrity would have picked up the phone and reported it. Bynum is another self serving, equivocating hack that, unfortunately, may well end up being our "representative" instead of the second most bipartisan member of the house we have now

Agreed, Kendall. To me, the most damning thing about all this is JB's initial "really full plate" response. It's just unbelievably callous considering the subject matter.

Add this to the long list of shady events plaguing Bynum. Her resume is very troubling

But voters in Portland have an incredible double standard when it comes to boys being abused by an adult male. Have you heard a single word about Sam Adams and his illegal sexual behavior with an underage male while he was Mayor of Portland? I certainly haven’t. The next time you see a neighbor with a “Adams for Mayor” yard sign, stop and think about what they are really saying about their own morals.

What are the races of the campaign worker and the young female he allegedly sexually assaulted?

With Bynum it often comes down to race. When she opposed House Bill 3293, she suggested that white girls would be going after black men with false rape accusations. In Bynum’s world, all young black men are equivalent to Emmett Till. Her legislative colleagues acquiesced and amended the bill to her satisfaction, thus allowing her to vote yes.

There is a side issue that Bynum and her progressive, nanny-like colleagues won’t address: How is it that everybody is now expected to be “a mandatory reporter?” In another context, say a neighborhood plagued with gang violence, wouldn’t a mandatory reporter simply be regarded as a snitch? When does Bynum think it’s OK to cooperate with the police?

When she was overseeing police reform as co-chair of a special legislative committee, she cast law enforcement as a problem. Criminal offenders benefited.

I guess we will see what Portland (and environs) feel about this kind of leadership in a couple of weeks. I won't be too optimistic myself. free rides and freebies seem to be more important than the law. we seem, no longer, to be a nation of laws, but of who promises the best deal, including get out of jail free cards.
