This quote may well illuminate the central problem in Oregon politics.
When people in power feel no qualms, or shame, expressing a complete disregard for the most basic elements of decent behavior, and the opposing party continues to meekly crawl back in to contribute to the game, there is little hope for the future of the state.
The minority party gets slapped in the face, in public, over and over and over. But come August 29th you can rest assured they will show up to provide the quorum the Democrats need to rip off Oregonians to pay off the Dem’s donor base, all while sending out a daily barrage of email fund raisers masquerading as “petitions” or “surveys” that decry the damage the Democrats are doing. After the Democrat fees and taxes go up the Republicans will ask for more money to “fight” the very policies they expedited. Pogo was right.
Redistricting should be illegal. Walking out should also be illegal.
Oregon District 1, where I live, is an obscenity. The Democrats like to disenfranchise people who live in conservative areas. The Republicans are no better.
You have a point, this democrat will give you that. I do think however, having a President specifically request a mid census redistricting is a bit of a different case. They were supposed to be working on flood relief in the special session. But no, just redistricting. (no forked tongue here btw)
